The first credible record of the word the “ick” was used in 1997 by Ally McBeal, in Season 1 Episode 15, 45 seconds in.
Although Oxford English Dictionary does credit a 1979 Newsweek article as the first form of written evidce of the word for using “ick factor.” As in the 1980s, the word the “ick” was used interchangebale with the “yuck factor”. (But I was unable to access the site)
Nonetheless in recent years it was resurfaced when Season 3 Love Island Contestant, Olivia Attwood, used it in 2017 to describe her failing relationship with another contestant.
On TikTok there is an account “wyszkay” that is dedicated to sharing videos of women sharing their personal “icks.” Then he compiles all of the icks into an “ick list” that growing in length on his notes app.
Then another website that has been used by millions of Millennials and Gen Zers is Rice Purity Test, and I thought I could put a 21st spin on it by updating it to the modern age.
Currently I am seeking a full-time markeitng position, however, the only email that I continue to receive are rejections. As a way of being creative and standing out I had the idea to tackle some various projects that I could add to my portfolio.
Some ideas like my personal dating site was birthed back in Janruary 2023 while the ick list came to my mind in April 2024.
